RALEIGH E-FOILS FAQ

What is an e-Foil?

An eFoil is much like a surfboard but includes an electrical powered propeller just above the wing of the hydrofoil (which sits below the water). This moves the board without the need for wind or waves. The eFoil runs on a rechargeable battery and is controlled by handheld wireless, Bluetooth connected remote.  Unlike traditional types of boards, efoils do not need the power of waves to raise above the water. This makes them ideal for flat waters like lakes and calm seas.

Who should take an e-foil lesson?

eFoil lessons are great for anyone interested in trying out the latest trend in watersports or looking to leap to other types of foiling (efoiling is a good place to start). We highly recommend scheduling a lesson to anyone interested in purchasing an efoil first, there are tons of benefits and discounts available.

How fast do you go when riding an Efoil?

This unique propulsion system can reach speeds of up to 20-28 mph, depending on the type of eFoil.  However, most riders go about 15 mph

What should I expect during a lesson?

The lesson will run approximately 2 hours and includes a step-by-step plan to get you up and cruising on the board. The learning curve is much shorter than most people expect and with expert coaching, most people are able to learn quickly. We’ll go over safety, a demonstration on land and then guide you through balancing, turning and speed control. Lesson duration is dependent on battery life of the board (75-90 mins in the water).

Where can I take a lesson?

We schedule the majority of our lessons at Jordan Lake - Ebenezer Church Rd Ramp, in Chatham County. The lake is conveniently located just a short drive from downtown Raleigh, Chapel-Hill and Durham and only a few mins from Cary, Apex, Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina. In addition to Jordan Lake, we also host lessons, group rides, lake days and special events at Harris Lake and Hyco Lake. We can also make accommodations for other locations, just give us a call.

How old do you need to be to take a lesson?

Lessons are designed for riders 13 and up.  If you have a special request, give us a call.

What about the weather?

We offer lessons beginning in the spring and running well into the fall (May-October) depending on water temperatures, wind and weather conditions. Once you have a lesson scheduled, we'll monitor conditions and contact you if needed, to reschedule based on how the day looks out on the water. Safety is always a priority.

How much does it cost?

All inclusive lessons include one-on-one instruction from one of our highly experienced Raleigh E-Foil Coaches and include all of the gear you'll need to become a competent rider.  We use only the latest eFoiling technology and equipment to get you soaring! Lessons are $350 + tax for up to 2 people. Also available are Half Day and Full Day Adventures as well as Group Rides
